Jumping on for the ride in a two-year old’s imagination is bound to be exciting. Recently, our imaginations have taken us dragon hunting at bed-time.… it does the trick and gives for some memorable moments. One night, in particular, I was beckoned by the sword wielding two-year old to come with him upstairs to find “The Dragon”. At this particular moment in the evening there was a long list of tasks that needed tackled. (Side note: There are times to drop your tasks to go on a dragon hunt, but now was not that time.)
“You have what it takes to fight the dragon!”
I looked at the young warrior and said: “Buddy, you have the sword!” -Which he understood as, “You have what it takes to fight the dragon!” I could tell, because his response was an exuberant, “OKAY!” and ran off to slay the beast.
Two-Fold reminder in this little event:
1) I have a sword, The Word of God. Open it (more often), read it, study it with abandon. It will serve you well while you slay the dragons that rear their ugly head this week.
2) Teach your kids how to use The Sword….and that they have what it takes to fight too!
